At Rafela, we believe that everyone has a role to play in the fight against climate change. Despite enormous pressure from the population, the political world is still not taking the necessary measures to deal with this global crisis. Fortunately, there are concrete actions that can be taken by all citizens.

Our role is to find projects with a real and lasting impact in the fight against climate change and to enable thousands of people to contribute.

My name is Benoît Lanthier and I created Rafela with the aim of ensuring a future for my children, Léa and Raphaëlle. I want there to be snow in the winter for them too. I know that collectively we can make a difference and ensure a happy future for them.

PERU

TreesOfLives

As part of the TreesOfLives project, the Quebec company ViridisTerra is currently reforesting 100 hectares of degraded land in Peru and helping to protect 100 hectares of forest. Help us to accelerate the reforestation.

TreesOfLives is a project started by the Quebec company ViridisTerra which uses money from investors to set up agroforestry systems on degraded land in Peru. They have developed biotechnologies that allow them to grow forests at a much faster rate than normal. Working with Peruvian landowners, they are restoring forest cover to degraded areas and protecting acres of natural forest.

In addition, commodities will be produced in reforested areas. These commodities will be sold and certified zero-deforestation. Since landowners have a financial interest in reforestation and protecting their land, the project will certainly have a long-term impact and will not constantly depend on new investments.

HAITI

M-VR

Based on the education of citizens, the Voluntary Movement for Reforestation (M-VR) brings concrete solutions to a place that badly needs them. Help us reach more people and reforest Haiti

More than 98% of the forest cover has been lost in Haiti, which has a lot of negative consequences for the inhabitants. Erosion, soil leaching, loss of water retention capacity and loss of biodiversity are some of the problems they face. For a country with a large portion of the population engaged in subsistence farming, this is a major problem! The Voluntary Movement for Reforestation aims to promote reforestation by focusing on the involvement and education of people. With a goal of planting 20 million trees and limited funding, this organization needs your help!
